Last week, officials from Bucks County, Middletown Township, and DVRPC broke ground on the Neshaminy Greenway Trail at Core Creek Park.

Last week, officials from Bucks County, Middletown Township, and DVRPC broke ground on the Neshaminy Greenway Trail at Core Creek Park. The project includes a one-mile trail within the park that will link existing trails to the intersection of Woodbourne and Ellis roads.

The Neshaminy Greenway Trail is planned to run adjacent to Lake Luxembourg along Tollgate Road. This extension will include a 150-foot floating boardwalk where the trail crosses a tributary of Core Creek. The trail is planned to one day follow Neshaminy Creek, linking communities and recreational facilities at the creek’s beginning near Chalfont Borough with its confluence at the Delaware River.

Construction costs are funded through PennDOT’s Transportation Alternative Set-Aside Program. The project will cost approximately $3.2 million to construct and is expected to be completed within 12-18 months.

Once complete, the trail will be part of Greater Philadelphia's Circuit Trails, an 800-mile multi-use trail network. Investments like this provide many benefits for our communities and embody a number of key goals established in the region’s long-range plan, Connections 2050.
